Fall Marketing Tips for 2020
It’s October! The leaves are changing, the air is cooling down, and Halloween is approaching! While things look a little different this year in the retail world, there are many things that are still the same! People are eager to soak up those pumpkin spice, autumn coloured vibes, and you can be a part of it! Here are some Fall marketing tips for 2020, to give your customers the warm and fuzzies!
#1 Social Distancing - Made Festive!
We all know social distancing hasn’t been a party, but maybe we could make it one! Instead of standard 6ft apart lines in your shop, you could add festive leaf decals, pumpkins, or bats to bring a smile to the faces of your customers. Hang decorations from the ceilings and add some to the walls. You can even decorate a mason jar, add a pump, and now you have a festive sanitizer for your customers! Who says safety can’t be fun too?! Physical shops can feel like a more scary place to people in 2020, and you want yours to be a safe and inviting experience!
What better place to get your Fall on than Michaels? They have decals, garlands, art for the walls, and more!
Plastic Mason Jars – No broken glass in your shop!
Mason Jar Pump – Turn it into a sanitizer pump! Go next level and offer a lotion in a pump next to it too! Sanitizing everywhere is drying to the hands, especially in the colder months, and customers will be more likely to use both, if their hands will be left silky soft!
Fall Leaf Garland – Make your store beautifully festive!
#2 Collaborate with Other Businesses!
We’re all in this together, folks! Why not collaborate with some of your fellow business owners? Perhaps someone will walk into their store, or visit their website, and not yours, and vice versa. By working together, you’ve got more ground covered with your products! With many stores closing their doors this year, people are becoming more aware that they need to support local business owners, and divert away from places like Amazon. If you have a brick and mortar shop, give a fellow business owner a bit of shelf space, and a card displaying their business. It diversifies your offerings, and helps them out! Perhaps they will do the same for you too!
Your business is only online? Fear not, you can participate too! Feature others in your newsletter to customers, maybe offer a special gift box available with a collection of yours and other products (probably ones that don’t directly compete with yours). Customers love coupons too! You could make a coupon pack that includes many businesses all in one, or one where if you buy something off of one website, you get a deal on another one. There’s tons of room to get creative and help each other out!
Hot tip: See a product you want on Amazon? Try visit the website of that business, or purchase it from a smaller independent distributor, online or in person. Chances are, you will pay about the same, or sometimes less with a coupon, and the profits will go to them instead of Amazon, helping the products you like stay on the shelves!
#3 Instagram Photo Contest
You may be seeing your customers a bit less in person this year, so why not connect more online?! Invite your customers to post pictures of themselves using your products with a designated hashtag, for the chance to win a prize! Cooking contests, artistic endeavours, home decor, whatever your business might be! For example, 1CRM can be used anywhere, so customers could post photos of them using it at home, under an autumn tree, or while working at a (socially distant) patio! Get creative 🙂 Choose a winner and re-gram their photo on your account with the details of the gift they won.
#4 Give Thanks in a Festive Way
Why host a regular sale when you could have the Thanksgiving Extravaganza? This beautiful time of year is the perfect excuse to add some warmth to your advertising. Your business can give Thanks to your customers by hosting a sale for a limited time! Add festive art to your newsletter (easy to do with Lead Guerrilla!) or if you have a physical location, dress it up a bit to draw attention to your sale.
#5 Get Charitable!
As the seasons change, and the weather cools, it’s the perfect time to give back, and your customers feel warm and fuzzy by helping out too. Especially knowing that this year has been notably challenging for many. Since physical raffles are not very covid-friendly, you could instead add to your marketing that a percentage of your profits will be donated to the local food bank! After all, money is more useful to them than 100 cans of creamed corn! If possibly, modify your website checkout so that the more your customer spends, it displays how much they will be donating to the food bank. Win-win!
